10 killed as building collapses during church service

No fewer than 10 worshippers were reported dead after a building housing a church, Salvation Ministry, collapsed in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The tragic incident occurred Tuesday evening while the church was holding a service.

RELIABLESOURCENG.COM learnt that an unspecified number of worshippers was trapped in the rubbles.

Eight persons were rescued unhurt while four persons were taken to the Asaba Specialist Hospital, we gathered.

Delta Government officials, including Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Chief Patrick Ukah; Commissioner for Health, Dr Ononye Mordi; team of Red Cross officials and fire fighters were at the scene.

Community youths, state fire fighters and a team of policemen were said to have been mobilised for rescue operations.
