The Lagos State Government has started the demolition of two 15-storey buildings on the site where a 21-storey high-rise collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos State, on November 1, 2021.
The demolition was one of the recommendations of the investigative panel set up by the Lagos government to probe the tragic collapse of the 21-storey building on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi.
No fewer than 45 persons, including the developer, Mr. Femi Osibona, Managing Director of Fourscore Heights Limited, died in the disaster which occurred in the afternoon of the grievous day, sending shock across the construction industry in Nigeria.

A visit to the site Thursday by RELIABLESOURCENG.COM shows that the demolition has progressed to the ninth floor.
Some of the workers on the barricaded site told us that the exercise had commenced quietly some time in August and was being systematically carried out as the site is surrounded by residential buildings, especially on the side of the high-brow Park View Estate, Ikoyi.
