Qatar 2022 World Cup: Nigeria fails to qualify after draw against Ghana
Irate Nigerian football fans invade the playing pitch

Irate Nigerian football fans broke through security barriers and invaded the playing pitch, after the Super Eagles drew 1-1 against the Black Stars of Ghana, in the second leg of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier, at Abuja National Stadium, on Tuesday.

The fans obviously distraught by the fact that the nation’s football team Super Eagles has failed in its bid for the 2022 World Cup took to the pitch, destroying whatever they could lay their hands on.

Nigeria had played a goal-less draw against Ghana in the first leg meeting at Kumasi, Ghana, last Friday, March 25, 2022.

But with the one goal apiece draw, Ghana qualifies ahead of Nigeria by virtue of away goal advantage.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey scored the goal that is taking Ghana to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Partey struck on the 11th-minute while another Premier League star, William Troost-Ekong, levelled for Nigeria from a 22nd-minute penalty.
