I’m a consultant to the AGF – Suspect in Justice Mary Odili attack

The Nigerian Police authority said Thursday 14 persons have been arrested in connection with the siege on Justice Mary Odili’s residence in Abuja, on Friday, October 29, 2021.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, who paraded the suspects in Abuja explained that their arrest followed a swift investigation by the police.

Among the suspects were a man described as a fake Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Lawrence Ajodo; another said to be a contributing editor with one of the national dailies, whose name was given as Stanley Nkwazema and an Islamic scholar.

Ajodo, who according to Mba led the gang of invaders, told journalists that he was not a police officer but described himself as a consultant to the AGF.

“I am not an officer of the Nigeria Police but a consultant for the AGF; he did not send us to raid Mrs Odili’s house,” he stated.

The police spokesman, however, described the suspects as “criminals”, “loose cannons” and “document forgers” who were on their own and not hired by any personnel of the ministry of justice.

Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had already dissociated himself from the Justice Odili house raid, said to have conducted by a team from the AGF’s office.

Likewise, the various security agencies, including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) have denied involvement in the conundrum that has pitched the Judicial arm of government against the security agencies, led by the Executive.

At least 10 more persons linked with the incident, including two military personnel, are said to be at large, Mba stated.
