Anyim, Sanwo-Olu, Sule others honoured with Zik Prize Award

 

Ten distinguished Nigerians were at the weekend honoured with the Zik Prize Award in various categories of leadership.

The award, founded by Prince Emeka Obasi, publisher of Business Hallmark newspaper, is organised yearly by the Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC), in honour of the pan-Africanist, foremost nationalist and Nigeria’s first President, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, the Owelle of Onitsha.

It was the 2020 edition of the awards and 26th in the series.

Line up of awardees led by former Senate President and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, honoured for Political Leadership, include the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, both of whom were honoured for Good Governance.

Other awardees were African Development Bank (AfDB) President, Dr Akinwumi Adesina; Dr U. K. Eke, Managing Director of FBN Holdings Plc; Managing Director of NNPC, Mele Kyari; Director General of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh; Dr Uche Orji of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), all of whom were honoured for Professional Leadership.

Also honoured were the Minister of State Health, Dr Olorunnibe Mamora, for Political Leadership and former Akwa Ibom State First Lady, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, for Humanitarian Leadership.

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, honoured the occasion, held inside the exquisite Expo Hall of the Eko Hotels, Lagos, as the Royal Father of the day, supported by eminent traditional rulers from both Nasarawa and Lagos states.

The event was graced by a cream of the nation’s prominent names in politics, business, royalty and the arts, among whom was the Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu.
