Uzodimma dashes hope, fails to name sponsors of terror in Imo

Imo State governor Hope Uzodimma on Tuesday demurred at his earlier promise to name those he had classified as sponsors of terror in the state.

Uzodimma had raised the expectation of the citizens of the state, weeks back, when he told them that he would be naming those behind the spate of insecurity ravaging the state, on January 4, 2022, when he would deliver the state-of-the-state address.

However, the governor after reeling out his achievements in the various sectors of development, shied away from naming the people he had accused of bank-rolling the elements that have turned the state into a battle field.

Uzodimma hinged his inability to name the terror sponsors to pleas by security agencies who, according to him, were yet to conclude their investigation.

He consequently craved the indulgence of the state and the expectant gathering at the state’s 2022 stakeholders meeting to allow security agencies to conclude their investigations and charge the culprits to court.

Uzodimma, in the meeting monitored by RELIABLESOURCENG.COM, accused former Governor Rochas Okorocha of interfering with governance in the state.

He said out of the former governors of the state, including Emeka Ihedioha of PDP who lost the office to him through a Supreme Court judgment, Okorocha is the only one who continues to contest the control of government with him.

“He should let me answer (the title) governor,” Uzodimma said of Okorocha.
