UPDATE: Bandits abduct 4 worshippers in Baptist Church Kaduna – Police

BY KAZIE UKO

The Kaduna State Police Command says four worshippers were abducted from Haske Baptist Church, Manini in Chikun Local Government Area, when armed bandits stormed the Church on Sunday during service.

The Command confirmed the attack in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mohammed Jalige.

Jalige said a preliminary investigation conducted so far revealed that four people were missing which aroused a suspicion that they might have been kidnapped by the bandits, while two others sustained gunshot wounds.

The police spokesman said normalcy had since been restored as security had been beefed up in the area while effort was ongoing to locate the missing persons.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government has condemned the attack by armed bandits on a place of worship.

“Attacking innocent worshipers who were exercising their natural and lawful right to assemble in worship, represented the worst kind of evil.

“The Governor sent heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and to the Haske Baptist Church.

“The Governor prayed for the repose of the souls of the slain in all the attacks. He also wished the injured victim a speedy recovery,” Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement confirming the attack.
