Olubadan of Ibadanland: Obas ‘step down’ for peace to reign

 

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, is dead. He was aged 93.

Oba Adetunji joined his ancestors after a brief illness, at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on Sunday.

The Ekarun Olubadan, High Chief Amidu Ajibade, confirmed his demise. Also, the palace spokesman, Adeola Oloko said the prominent Yoruba Oba died at about 1.00am Sunday.

“Around 9pm (Saturday), he was first taken to a private hospital, before he was carried to UCH Ibadan around 1a.m, thereafter he passed on.

“Baba passed on after a brief illness. He spent about five to six days at the hospital,” Oloko explained.

He said the late Olubadan will be buried on Sunday (today) by 4pm, at the palace.

Oba Adetunji was crowned the 41st Olubadan on March 4, 2017.

He took over after the demise of Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade.
