Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has offered automatic employment to the two best corps members, Festus Oluseye and Okereke Chinenye Vera, who were awarded the state’s Honour Award.

Speaking at the passing out ceremony of year 2019 ‘Batch A’ corps members in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun assured youth corps members posted to the state of an enabling environment that would accord them the opportunity to settle down and develop their potentials.

The Governor, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Mr.Tokunbo Talabi, congratulated the corps members for keeping faith with the one-year mandatory National Service, which he noted was in fulfilment of the dreams of the country’s founding fathers.

“My dear colleagues in nation building, you will agree with me that today marks the end of your one -year mandatory service in our dear state and it also marks the beginning of another phase in your life endeavours, one that would further task your training, knowledge, skills, talents and discipline garnered in school and in the last one year,” he stated.

According to a statement by Kehinde Balogun, Press Officer in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, the governor said that his administration had been closely monitoring corps members’ activities and service delivery progress and was convinced of their dedication and commitment to the ideals of the NYSC programme.

He commended corps members posted to the rural areas of the state, for contributing selflessly towards improving the standards of living of the people in the communities.

“You have worked and partnered the state government with youthful zeal and vigour, firmly rooted in your disciplines, humility and dedication towards the development of our dear State. I am indeed very proud of you all,” he stated.

Prince Abiodun thereafter admonished corps members who had resolved to stay back, to take advantage of the various social intervention programmes designed to promote job creation, poverty alleviation and food security, lauding the leadership of the scheme for its aggressive drive and relentless effort in monitoring, as well as, mentoring the youth over the years.

Earlier in her address, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Belinda Faniyi, noted that the decision to reward exemplary corps members, who have distinguished themselves in the course of the service year, was part of the age-long culture of the scheme, revealing that 27 corps members who absconded from service shall have their certificates withheld, while three that went against the bye-laws shall serve the punishment accordingly.

A minute silence was observed for the repose of the souls of two members, Makinde Damilola Aduke and Babatunde Janet Abosede, who died during the Service.
