Methodist Church paid N100m ransom to secure my freedom - Prelate

The kidnapped Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Rev Samuel Kanu Uche, said Tuesday that the Church paid the sum of N100 million as ransom, in order to secure his freedom.

The Prelate, who spoke at a press conference in Lagos, said the monies were arranged in five sacks of N20 million, each.

He said the funds were raised by the Methodist Church in Nigeria, adding that neither the Federal or State Government, nor the military or police intervened.

RELIABLESOURCENG.COM reports that His Eminence, Rev Kanu Uche, was kidnapped on Sunday in Abia State, alongside two other clerics.

All three of them were released on Monday, less than 24 hours after the abductors made a demand for N100 million for their freedom.
