DSS secretly moves actor Chiwetalu Agu to Abuja, family alleges

The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly flown actor, Chiwetalu Agu, to Abuja in continuation of investigation for his alleged promotion and support for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and inciting members of the public.

The veteran actor was first arrested by the Nigerian Army on October 7, 2021, around Upper Iweka in Onitsha, Anambra State, for wearing a supposed Biafran outfit while distributing bread and other items to the needy.

He was accused by the army of soliciting support for IPOB, accused of several acts of terrorism and later handed over to the DSS for investigation and prosecution.

A relative of the Nollywood actor who spoke anonymously told the media that Agu was first moved from Anambra to Enugu and then to Abuja, adding that the family had been denied access to him, as attempts to see him in Abuja were rebuffed by the DSS.

“We spent two days trying to ascertain his whereabouts. We were later informed that he was moved to Enugu and then Abuja.

“We heard that the idea is to move him away from the South-East. We have made efforts to see him, but the DSS has not granted us access. Even the lawyers have not been allowed to reach him,” the relative said.

DSS spokesman, Peter Afunaya, could not be reached for confirmation as calls to his phone did not go through, at the time of this report.
