Cross River governor Ayade dumps PDP for APC

Ayade and his new APC friends

The Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ayade announced his defection Thursday morning at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office while hosting some governors of the APC.

Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Senator Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Hon. Simon Lalong of Plateau State and the Chairman of APC National Caretaker Committee and Yobe State Governor, Mr. Mai Mala Buni, among others, had stormed the state on Wednesday to lobby him to join the ruling party.

While announcing his defection from the PDP, Ayade declared that henceforth, Cross River State has become an APC state, and urged all his supporters and followers to go to their respective wards and register with his new party.

Speculations had been rife that the governor who had been having problems with the PDP over the conduct of the last state congress where he lost control of the party structures in his state, will desert the PDP.

He was absent at the last PDP governors’ meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State.
