Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) looks good to become the next governor of Anambra State.

He is currently leading his major opponents – Valentine Ozigbo of PDP, Andy Uba of APC and Ifeanyi Uba of YPP – in the ongoing gubernatorial election of Anambra, in more than two-thirds of the Local Government Areas of the state.

His party, APGA, has so far been declared winner in 17 out of the 21 local government areas of the state.

The LGAs already won by APGA are: Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Dunukofia, Awka North, Awka South, Oyi, Ayamelu, Anaocha, Idemili South, Idemili North, Njikoka, Anambra East, Anambra West, Nnewi South, Orumba South, Ekwusigo and Aguata.

Senator Ifeanyi Uba of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have won one LGA each, while Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to win any LGA.

Results of two LGAs are being expected for the exercise to be brought to a close.

Although there are 21 LGAs in Anambra, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that elections did not hold in Ihiala LGA.
