ACF says helicopter drops arms for bandits

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has lent further credence to the allegation that helicopters were used to drop arms for bandits, herdsmen and other terrorist groups plaguing the country.

The ACF while congratulating the people and government of Zamfara State on the safe release of the kidnapped school girls from Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe, also appealed to the federal government to extend its “no fly zone” order on other states with security challenges like Zamfara.

Specifically, the pan northern socio-cultural and political organisation pleaded with the federal government to extend the ban to other states like Benue, Taraba and Borno, saying there were rumours that helicopters frequently dropped arms for bandits and insurgents operating in these states.

“We believe that such an extended ban will curtail the operations of the criminals in these areas,” said the ACF, in a statement on Wednesday, by its Chairman, Chief Audu Ogbe.

Ogbe expressed the forum’s happiness with the federal government’s decision to ban flights in Zamfara State.
