Abia, Gombe, Sokoto make COVID-19 list as Nigeria records 38 new cases

Three states – Abia, Gombe and Sokoto – have become the latest entrants to the COVID-19 list in Nigeria. They joined 21 other states and the FCT on a day the country recorded 38 new cases of the coronavirus disease.

As at 11.10pm on the 20th of April 2020, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said 38 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Nigeria.

“Till date, 665 cases have been confirmed, 188 cases have been discharged and 22 deaths have been recorded in Nigeria,” the NCDC published on its website.

The 38 new cases are reported from eight states – Kano (23), Gombe (5), Kaduna (3), Abia (2), Borno (2), Sokoto (1), Ekiti (1) and FCT (1).

There was no case recorded in Lagos which had hauled in whopping 70 cases on Sunday.

A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities, the NCDC said.
