2023 Election: Tinubu absent as Obi, Atiku, others sign peace accord
Towards the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, the presidential candidates of political parties on Thursday committed themselves to peaceful conduct.
Of the three front runners – Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party – only Tinubu was not present.
The APC’s candidate was however represented by his running mate, Alhaji Kashim Shettima.
Tinubu’s absence at the event was not explained as his whereabouts is not known. Also, there is no official statement from his campaign office, even though it is believed he had travelled out of the country.

Not even the Deputy Director of APC’s Presidential Campaign Council, Adams Oshiomhole, who appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Wednesday, could confirm the whereabouts of the APC standard bearer.
“I don’t report to him every day, I’m not sure if he’s around or not,” Oshiomhole responded, when asked about Tinubu.
The peace accord is organised by the National Peace Committee headed by former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar and Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah.
