President Buhari maintains social distancing at Eid prayers

President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari and members of his household Sunday observed the Eid prayers at home, in keeping with the Presidential Task Force on COVID19 #PTFCOVID19 protocol against mass gatherings.
The Sultan of Sokoto who is the spiritual leader of Muslims in Nigeria had also directed the suspension of Eid congregational prayers across the country this period in line with the PTF and the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) protocol.
Images out of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the official residence of the president showed the president sitting on a chair in between eight (four on either side) male members of his family who sat on the floor with mats. The nine of them were led in prayer by an Imam.
The female members of the president’s immediate family, led by the matriarch, the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, sat at another end while they observed their prayers.
President Buhari had Friday said he would be observing the Eid prayers with members of his family at Aso Rock Villa and advised against visits by politicians, religious leaders and others, in adherence to the social distancing measure to mitigate the spread of coronavirus infection.
