BREAKING: Atiku beats Wike to clinch PDP presidential ticket

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket for the 2023 general election.
Atiku beat his closest rival, Ezenwo Wike, governor of Rivers State, with 134 votes, in the PDP primary election contested by 12 aspirants, on Saturday, May 28, 2022.
He scored 371 votes to beat Wike who scored 237 votes out of a total of 764 votes cast by the PDP delegates at the convention held inside the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abuja, the federal capital. Twelve votes were ruled void.
Other contestants in the intra-party election include Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel; Bauchi state gover, Bala Muhammed; former senate president, Pius Anyim and former senate president and ex-governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki.
