Veritas Kapital partners NBSC on blood donation

Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc, as part of the events marking the annual ‘World Blood Donor’ Day on June 14, has collaborated with the National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) to improve the availability of safe blood in the Country.

The World Blood Donor Day is a day set aside by the World Health Organization (WHO) to show solidarity and appreciation to blood donors around the world, while creating wider public awareness of the need for regular, unpaid blood donation.

The theme of this year’s celebration was “Donating blood is an act of solidarity, Join the effort and save lives”.

Veritas Kapital marked the celebration with a special blood donation drive at its corporate head office located in the Central Business District of Abuja, as part of its corporate social responsibility activities.

The Managing Director/CEO of the company, Mr. Kenneth Egbaran, commended the high turnout of staff, saying that the company was humbled by the opportunity to contribute to the efforts of the NBSC in saving lives.

He said that the company was motivated to partake in the event going by its deep resolve to play a pivotal role in socially responsible programmes that positively impact the lives and wellbeing of everyday Nigerian.

Aisha Garba, Head, Corporate Services, attributed the high turnout of staff to the company’s “employee volunteer programmes”, instituted at the beginning of the year. “These programmes actively engaged staff to effectively serve their communities and the environment of which blood donation in collaboration with the NBSC was a top priority,” she said.

Also, the Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Arinze Adigwe, praised the NBSC for their professionalism and support while stating that the management and staff of Veritas Kapital Assurance were deeply honoured and grateful for the opportunity to save lives. He added that the blood drive was the first of many more collaborative activities with the NBSC.
