United States President Joe Biden, barely two months into his four-year presidency, said on Thursday he planned to run for re-election in 2024.

Biden, 78, is the oldest person to take office as president in U.S. history and there has been speculation that he would serve only one four-year term.

“My plan is to run for re-election. That’s my expectation,” Biden told reporters when asked about his political future.

When pressed he added that he is “a great respecter of fate” and did not make firm plans so far in advance, but that if he does run in 2024, he “would fully expect” that Vice President Kamala Harris would be on the ticket.
