UPDATED: APC reverses self on national convention

The Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reversed itself on the party’s national convention earlier postponed indefinitely.

The convention was scheduled to hold on February 26, 2022, but was postponed indefinitely. Hours later, the party reversed itself and scheduled the convention for March 26, 2022 at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

The decision to this effect was reached at the 20th regular meeting of the caretaker committee in Abuja on Monday.

Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the Secretary of the CECPC, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe said: “We have agreed and approved that activities for the party’s national convention will commence from Feb. 24 and terminates on March 26 at Eagle Square with the National Convention.

“In between the convention, we have agreed to have zonal congresses and all the activities are hereby given as approved by the CECPC.”

The APC had in a letter dated February 21, 2022, informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of its decision to postpone the convention scheduled for February 26, 2022. The letter was signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni, and Senator John James Akpanudoedehe.
