Ukraine: FG to deploy Air Peace to evacuate Nigerians

The Federal Government has announced it will be deploying Air Peace to evacuate Nigerians caught up in the Russia-Ukraine crisis and willing to return, from Wednesday.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, stated this on Monday at a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
He said some of the Nigerians trapped in Ukraine as a result of the war in that country are not willing to return to Nigeria.

Onyeama said the evacuation will be done following the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said: “We hope to start evacuation hopefully Wednesday although some do not want to come back. We are doing everything possible to ensure that come Wednesday we will dispatch planes for evaluation.”
RELIABLESOURCENG.COM gathered that the evacuation is expected to take place from neighbouring countries of Poland, Romania and Hungary due to the restriction of flights within Ukraine as the country is designated a no-fly zone.
