Thugs attack #SARSMUSTEND protesters in Lagos, Abuja, destroy vehicles

BY NICHOLAS ABE
Nigerian youths protesting police brutality in the land came under attack by alleged hired thugs who wielded dangerous weapons, scaring away the protesters and destroying their vehicles.
At least four vehicles of different brands had their front and back windshields shattered; windows, headlights and rear lights of the cars were also smashed.
The attacks happened in Lagos and Abuja, the nation’s commercial and political capitals, respectively.
The Abuja attack was recorded under the bridge at Berger, where a group of protesters had gathered as they joined their compatriots in other states of the federation to lent their voices in peaceful protest, to end the regime of police extra-judicial killings, extortion and undue harassment, especially by police special tactical forces.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has since disbanded the SARS and ordered the debriefing, psychological and other medical tests on the operatives who constituted the special force.
Seven of the attackers were eventually apprehended by the protesting youths who were initially taken unawares but regrouped and fought back.

The overwhelmed attackers suffered injuries in the cause of the fracas and were taken to the hospital.
The protesters later drove all the damaged vehicles and headed to the National Assembly complex, to apparently lodge a complaint to the legislators.
In Lagos, a Twitter user, Idris @Crhedrys, reported that some thugs attacked protesters at Alausa area of Ikeja.
“GUYS!!! THEY SENT THUGS TO COME AND ATTACK US AT ALAUSA. WE HAVE CAPTURES AND CONTAINED ALL THE HOODLUMS. WE DEY PARA PASS IT ROUND #SARSMUSTEND #EndSWAT,” Idris tweeted.
Expressing her disgust to the attacks, Bring Back Our Girls co-convener Aisha Yesufu @AishaYesufu tweeted: “They hire hoodlums to win elections. They hire hoodlums to disperse protesters. They impoverished citizens and then turn them to willing tools as hoodlums. Time to ensure these sets of rulers never smell power in Nigeria #EndSars #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria #SARSMUSTEND.”
Sponsored thugs just attacked us at Berger bridge a few minutes ago and they did these to people's vehicles.
