Third Mainland Bridge reopens fully to traffic

The Federal Government on Saturday fully reopened the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, for public use after over seven-month closure for repairs.
It is expected that with the reopening of the bridge the hiccups and hardship experienced by citizens while commuting between the mainland and island, during the period of repairs, would have eased off.
Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, had announced the closure of the over 11.8km bridge on July 24, 2020 for repair works.
Announcing the reopening, the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Boade Akinola, said in a statement: “The Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, has today announced in Abuja the final opening to traffic of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos from Saturday, February 27, 2021 at midday.
