The Supreme Court Wednesday affirmed the elections of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Darius Ishaku of Taraba and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.

All three cases were heard and judgment delivered by different groups of judges.

After listening to the arguments of the parties in the case of Abia State, the court stood down judgment, as it adjourned briefly. But upon reconvening, the court reached an agreement that the governor’s election remains valid and consequently dismissed the appeal of Dr Alex Otti, challenging the election of Governor Ikpeazu.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Ejembi Ekwo, the court held that the counsel to the APC admitted that the party had no candidate in the Taraba election and therefore has no locus standi to contest the election of Governor Ishaku.

Also, in a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Centus Nweze, the Supreme Court held that the appellant, Mr Great Ogboru of APC failed to prove allegations of over-voting in the election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of PDP.

He said that the appeal is a waste of the precious time of the apex court.

He further added that the decisions of the court on the position of card readers are too numerous to begin to mention them or for the appellant to claim they are not in the know.
