Security Council orders reopening of Obajana Cement plant
Obajana Cement Company, sealed by Kogi State Government

The National Security Council has ordered the reopening of the Obajana cement plant shut down by the Kogi State Government last week.

This was part of resolutions arrived at a security meeting the council held in Abuja on Friday.

The council also advised that all that issues in contention be resolved legally, adding that the government’s commitment to providing employment was not negotiable.

The state government had claimed that available documents showed that the plant belonged to it 100 per cent.

But Dangote Industries refuted the claim, saying that the state government had no stake whatsoever in the plant and was not entitled to any dividend in the company.
