Police interrogate, detain Senator Elisha Abbo

 

The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Police Command has detained Senator Elisha Abbo caught in a video assaulting a lady said to be a nursing mother at an adult toy shop in Abuja.

In a telephone interview with CHANNELS TV, the FCT Police Commissioner, Mr Bala Ciroma, confirmed that the Senator who turned himself to the police, following an order for his arrest by the IG of Police, was being detained to enable detectives complete investigation on the alleged assault.

Abbo, who represents Adamawa North Senatorial District was seen in a CCTV footage inside the shop slapping a lady after she had pleaded with him not to physically assault the shop owner whom he accused of insulting him.

The video which was exclusively released by Premium Times on Monday went viral on the internet and drew wide condemnation, with many outraged Nigerians calling for his prosecution and urging the Senate to also discipline him.
