Kaduna State, buffeted by militia killings, may be getting some respite if the orders of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, are carried out as forcefully as they were handed down.

The IGP has directed the Commissioner of Police (CP), Kaduna State Police Command, CP Austin Iwar, to ensure full enforcement of the curfew imposed by the Kaduna State Government, as part of the measures to mitigate the incessant killings that have been going on in Southern Kaduna, in the last two weeks.

The CP, according to a statement by the Force PRO, DCP Frank Mba, has also been mandated by the IGP to deploy the necessary manpower and material resources to support the Intervention Squad currently on ground in the state, to safeguard lives and property of people in the communities.

“The CP is to personally coordinate the operations of the Intervention Squad in carrying out collective and holistic tasks of ensuring peace and safety in the communities.

“The Squad comprises: The Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Police Special Forces, Detectives/Intelligence Operatives as well as personnel of the Kaduna State Police Command, the Military and other security agencies,” the Force PRO said.

Mba delivered the IGP’s condolences to the people of Kaduna State, particularly those who have lost their loved ones and property as a result of the crises.

The IGP assured that the Police “will do everything within its powers and means to ensure that peace is restored in the affected areas.”
