PICTURES: Funeral mass held for worshippers massacred by terrorists in Owo

A funeral service has been held today, Friday, June 17, 2022 for the victims of terrorist massacre at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State.
No fewer than 40 parishioners were brutally murdered on June 5, 2022, by elements described by the Federal Government of Nigeria as ISWAP terrorists.
RELIABLESOURCENG.COM reports that the victims were slaughtered by gunmen just as they were leaving the church after the morning mass. Many others suffered injuries as a result of gunshots and other improvised explosive device (IED), thrown at them by the terrorists.

The funeral mass was held at the Mydas Event Centre in Owo.
Present at the service were incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu and former governor, Olusegun Mimiko.
Also present at the mass were the Bishop of the Ondo Catholic Diocese, Jude Arogundade and the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah.
