Our country has suffered so much from ailing leaders – Utomi

Political economist, Professor Pat Utomi, says Nigeria has suffered a lot from being administered by sick leaders and therefore does not deserve to be led by another ailing leader after President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2023.
Buhari has travelled out of the country on medical treatment for no fewer than seven times, since he assumed office in May 2015.
Answering questions Monday on Channels Television interview programme, Politics Today, anchored by Seun Okinbaloye, on the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the coming election, Utomi, a director at Lagos Business School, said he would not be contesting for any public office at Tinubu’s age.
“Physically,” he responded, when asked to clarify what he meant that Tinubu is not fit to contest the 2023 presidential election.

“You can see he’s ailing; come on, let’s not kid ourselves. You can see it come on, come on, come on, come on let’s be honest.”
He challenged Tinubu to go through a medical test and make the result public if he was sincere in leading the country.
“American presidents go through medicals that are made public, let him go through a medical with Nigeria doctors, that’s made public.
“It is the lives of millions of people we’re dealing with here, okay,” Utomi said.
