A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Alex Otti, on Wednesday picked the governorship and expression of interest forms of the party, to contest the 2023 gubernatorial election in Abia State.

Otti, the most vocal and respected opposition figure in Abia politics, had about two weeks ago, in Umuahia, capital of Abia State, declared his intention to vie for the governorship of Abia, in 2023, on the platform of APC.

He was accompanied to the APC National Secretariat, Abuja, where he picked the forms, by a large group of supporters and party bigwigs from Abia.

The former bank chief executive officer reiterated that he was in the race for Abia governorship because of his love for the state and its people.

He told RELIABLESOURCENG.COM after picking up the forms that he was hopeful of clinching the ticket to fly the APC flag and would work for both the rich and poor in Abia when he eventually becomes the governor of the state in 2023.

Otti, a first-class economist, promised to “urgently embark on an economic  revolution” that will address the issue of  youth unemployment as well as the ease of doing business to enable all categories of entrepreneurs to thrive in the state, particularly in Aba, the economic nerve centre of Abia State.

He reiterated his desire to do things differently by focusing on the youth, the petty traders, the Keke Napep drivers, the road transport workers/owners, small business owners, as well as on medium to large scale corporates.

An avowed critic of the PDP government in Abia, led by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, for non-payment of workers salaries and entitlements, Otti promised that his government will strengthen the civil service, pay workers and teachers regularly as well as pension and gratuity to retirees.
