Osinachi’s husband pleads not guilty, remanded in Kuje Prison

Mr Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late popular gospel singer Osinachi, has pleaded not guilty to the death of his wife.
Nwachukwu is facing trial on a case of culpable homicide in the death of his wife, Osinachi, whose death on April 8, 2022, at a hospital in Abuja, drew national outrage, leading to his arrest and subsequent prosecution by the Federal Government who filed a 23-count charge against him.
The government claims that he contravened Sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, Section 221 of the Penal Code, and the Violence Against Person’s Prohibition Act (VAPP) 2015.

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in the Wuse area of Abuja, on Friday remanded him in the Kuje Correctional Facility, after he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme ruled that Nwachukwu will remain in prison pending the hearing and determination of the suit instituted against him by the Attorney General of the Federation.
The presiding judge ordered that the suspect be remanded at the correctional facility while the trial was adjourned to June 16 and June 17, 2022.
