Household of God Church pastor, Rev Chris Okotie, has alerted the public, especially social media users, of various fake Facebook accounts created using his name.

In a disclaimer he issued Tuesday through the church office, Okotie said his attention had been drawn to the fact that certain individuals were impersonating him on Facebook and extorting unsuspecting members of the public under false pretences.

He said one of such fake accounts in Facebook goes by the handle, “Pastor Chris Okotie”.

He described the act as fraudulent and warned the public not to give the said “Pastor Chris Okotie” anything of value or follow him as he, Rev Okotie, would never ask the general public to give him anything.

For clarity, he said his authentic Facebook account is simply, Chris Okotie.

Okotie’s disclaimer reads: “It has come to my notice that certain persons are in the habit of obtaining material things from unsuspecting citizens under false pretences. They do this by impersonating me on social media and solicit for money or as they say, ‘seed’, through numerous fake accounts.

“One of such unscrupulous persons that has taken a liking to the crime of impersonation is one ‘Pastor Chris Okotie’ on Facebook.

“This act is fraudulent and should not be encouraged. Therefore, I implore you not to give him or his ilk your money or any other valuable as I would never ask the general public to give me anything. Do not follow him nor associate with his Facebook page as he is an impostor; an ape.

“Furthermore, the only authentic account is Chris Okotie, simpliciter, with over 10,000 followers. Any other account is false and should not be associated with.

“May the blessing of the Lord Jesus be vouchsafed with you in the plenitude of His grace.”
