Nigeria’s COVID-19 tally rises by 245 new cases

Nigeria’s COVID-19 total figure rose by 245 new cases on Friday, submitted by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and 21 states, according to update published by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Also, 10 coronavirus related deaths were recorded in the country, with Lagos State alone registering four out of that number.

Till date, 7,261 cases have been confirmed, 2,007 cases have been discharged and 221 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 245 new cases were reported as follows: Lagos (131), Jigawa (16), Ogun (13), Borno (12), Kaduna (9), Oyo (9), Rivers (9), Ebonyi (9), Kano (8), Kwara (7), Katsina (5), Akwa Ibom (3), Sokoto (3), Bauchi (2), Yobe (2), Anambra (1), Gombe (1), Niger (1), Ondo (1), Plateau (1), FCT (1) and Bayelsa (1).

Cross River and Kogi states are still without any reported case of COVID-19.

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, announced on his Twitter handle that Lagos registered four COVID-19 related deaths, on Friday, raising the total mortality from the virus in the state to 46.

Abayomi did not give details of the deceased.
