Nigeria records first Coronavirus death, 6 new cases confirmed

Twenty-five days after the first case of coronavirus was recorded, Nigeria Monday joined the league of nations that have recorded fatalities in the global pandemic.
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said the case involved a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in UK.
“The 1st #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in UK.
“He had underlying medical conditions – multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy.
“Our thoughts are with his family,” an announcement by NCDC read.

Meanwhile, the NCDC said six new cases have been confirmed on Monday, March 23, 2020.
Of the five six new cases, one is in Edo State, two are in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and three are in Lagos State.
“Till date, thirty-six (36) cases have been confirmed, two cases have been discharged and one death from COVID-19 recorded in Nigeria,” NCDC published in its official website for updates.
Nigeria recorded her first coronavirus case on February 28, 2020 when an Italian national working for a contractor of a multinational company in Nigeria was diagnosed with the ailment.
