Nigeria records 284 new cases, 8 deaths from COVID-19

Lagos State remains the epicentre of the coronavirus battle in Nigeria as the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Wednesday announced 284 new cases registered in the country.
The NCDC also reported a total of eight COVID-19 related deaths within the same day.
Out of the 284 new cases reported on Wednesday, Lagos State alone turned in 199 cases. Rivers State followed with 26, Oyo (19), FCT (8), Borno (8), Plateau (7), Jigawa (6), Kano (5), Abia (2), Ekiti (1), Delta (1), Kwara (1) and Taraba (1).
Till date, 6,677 cases have been confirmed, 1,840 cases have been discharged and 200 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Cross River and Kogi state are yet to record any case of coronavirus.
Information on the website of the NCDC shows that the infectious diseases agency has so far conducted tests on 38,231 samples out of which 6,677 were confirmed. Of the 6,677 confirmed, 1,840 cases have been treated, tested negative twice consecutively and discharged while 4,637 cases are active and remain on admission in hospitals across the country.
