Nigeria adds 543 new cases, discharges over 15,000 COVID-19 patients

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says 543 new cases of coronavirus disease were recorded in Nigeria on Wednesday, July 22.

NCDC also confirmed eight COVID-19 related deaths same day, across the country.

According to the update published as at 11.46pm Wednesday, the infectious disease management agency said a total of 38,344 cases have been confirmed, 15,815 cases discharged while 813 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of the country.

The NCDC further disclosed that 247,825 samples have so far been tested for COVID-19.

The 543 new cases were reported as follows: Lagos (180), FCT (86), Kaduna (56), Edo (47), Ondo (37), Kwara (35), Ogun (19), Rivers (19), Kano (17), Ebonyi (16) Enugu (16), Delta (7), Bayelsa (4), Bauchi (3) and Abia (1).

“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities,” the NCDC alerted.
