Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has recused himself from presiding over the probe of the Commission.

At a resumed hearing of the probe today, July 20, Ojo while making his opening speech disqualified himself from further presiding over the probe.

Today’s session has in attendance the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the acting Managing Director and head, Interim Management Committee of the NDDC, Professor Daniel Keme Pondei.

The Interim Management Committee of the NDDC had last week Thursday requested that Tunji-Ojo should not preside over the probe as he had also been accused of “crime” against the commission.

The NDDC IMC subsequently walked out on the House committee after citing lack of confidence on the chairman.

Ojo’s deputy has since stepped into his shoes, now in charge of the proceedings as the hearing continues.
