NCDC alerts of Coronavirus case in Enugu

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says it is aware of a suspicious case of coronavirus in Enugu State, adding that it is being investigated.

According to an update on its twitter handle published early hours of Sunday, the agency said sample has been collected from the suspected case who has also been isolated.

“The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control is aware of the patient in Enugu, suspected to have #COVID19.

“This is one of several alerts received daily at the National #COVID19 Emergency Operations Centre.

“The patient is in isolation, sample collected and results expected tomorrow,” the agency twitted.

The NCDC’s announcement expectedly has set off a chain of reactions among the public with many commending the efforts of the agency in keeping the public updated while some expressed fears of the virus spreading.

A twitter user who goes by the moniker Paschal @PaschalPax wrote, “Great jobs guys!

“This is just getting scary. Nigerian government should consider banning arrivals from affected areas till further notice.

“USA did it. I don’t see why see (we) shouldn’t.”

Another, writing under the handle, Atiku/Obi @MultiChris1  said, “I’m really impressed with the momentum. Please keep up the energy! Some of your strategies are now being referenced worldwide.”
