The Director General of NCC, Dr. John Asein, whose agency is organising the event gives an insight into the reason for the event: “The Commission is interested in the balanced and sustainable use of the copyright system to create wealth and engender growth in the creative sector of the economy. To this end, it is concerned about the challenges faced by right owners, users of copyright works and the CMOs that manage the rights, including the acrimonious issues that often arise from licensing arrangements.”

Asein said the event seeks “to promote win-win outcomes for right owners and users of their works.”

Chairman of AVRS, Mr. Mahmood Ali-Balogun said, “AVRS is a responsible organisation and is willing to engage our esteemed users in an atmosphere of mutual understanding for the greater good of those we represent. We are therefore happy to work with the NCC in achieving this objective, which we believe would be a win-win situation for our members and affiliates and the users.”
