Maina to be extradited to Nigeria soon – Police

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says run-away former chairman of the defunct Presidential Task Team on Pensions Reform, Abdulrashid Maina, will soon be extradited to Nigeria, to continue his trial on fraud and money laundering.
This follows his arrest in Niamey, Niger Republic, on Monday evening by the Nigerien police.
Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, said in a statement Tuesday that the force was perfecting the extradition processes for fugitive Maina to Nigeria to enable him face trial in pending criminal proceedings against him.
Maina, who was declared wanted by a Federal High Court, Abuja, was arrested, according to Mba, through the collaborative efforts of the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, INTERPOL NCB, Abuja and their Nigerien counterpart.

“He is currently in a detention facility in Niger Republic awaiting the completion of the extradition processes.
“The Force assures the citizens, that there shall be no hiding place for any suspect, no matter how highly placed,” the police spokesman said.
