Magu released after 10 days in detention

BY EMMANUEL OGWU
The suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, on Wednesday regained freedom after 10 days in detention.
Magu’s release comes a day after the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, denied that the former EFCC boss was in police custody.
The IGP had directed his lawyers who had written the IGP, requesting for his release from detention to direct their request to the Presidential Panel investigating his activities.
Magu was said to have been set free from custody in the Force Criminal Investigation Department on the orders of the Presidential Investigation Committee.
His counsel, Mr. Wahab Shittu, had on Friday filed an application for his bail.
Shittu was quoted as confirming the release saying: “Magu was released at about 6pm and he has re-joined his family in Maitama.”
