JUST IN: Jailed ex-governors Dariye, Nyame released from prison

Former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye and a former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame, jailed on allegations of corruption have been released from the prison.

Also released are two others. The four convicts were released following a presidential amnesty.

The Council of State, chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari, had on April 14 approved the pardon of the convicts, a decision which generated public criticism and queried the administration’s much-vaunted war against corruption.

The spokesman for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nigerian Correctional Service, Chukwuedo Humphrey, confirmed their release to the media.
