The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to allow Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to have a change of clothes, medical attention and freedom to practice his faith.

The court directed the DSS to ensure that the detainee receives maximum possible comfort within the detect of the service.

At the resumed hearing on Thursday, the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako, said the matter for the day, was for abridgment of time.

The issues of bail and jurisdiction of the court, however, did not come up for determination.

Justice Nyako subsequently brought the case forward by a day (January 18, 2022), from the initial date, January 19, 2022, for hearing of pending applications which include the jurisdiction of the court and competence of the charge.

Meanwhile, Kanu was absent in court. His lawyer, Alloy Ejimakor, had told journalists that part of the things that would be heard was the application for his bail among others. The lawyer also said it was not mandatory that Kanu will be in court for the bail application hearing.
