There is good news in the air. The Italian coronavirus index case has now tested negative. But the Lagos State Government said he would not be leaving the hospital just yet.

Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, said the 44-year-old Italian who works for a contractor with Lafarge, will be tested one more time and if found negative a second time will be discharged.

“The index case has cleared the virus and will be tested one more time. If negative, he will be discharged,” Abayomi clarified.

“It is clear that we have a combination of imported cases and local transmission in Lagos now,” he added.
