Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha, started his first full day at work today by deploying the bull dozers to begin demolishing monuments built by the immediate past governor, Rochas Okorocha.

The first of such monuments to come down is the ‘Akachi Tower’, which was commissioned barely a week ago by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

The Akachi Tower, one of the many tourist attractions built by the former governor, was built on a reclaimed dumpsite that was abandoned by previous administration.

Unconfirmed report said that the widely criticized and ridiculed Jacob Zuma Statue and such others may be next to be demolished.

The demolition exercise was supervised by soldiers who barred journalists from covering the exercise.

The monument, a massive tower with the symbol of a hand on the Zenith, representing the ‘hand of God’, sits on an expansive plot of land, reserved for religious purposes. (RS/NAN)
