I have sewn my prison hijab – Aisha Yesufu

The symbol of the #EndSARS protest, Aisha Yesufu, says she is not afraid of going to jail for participating in the peaceful protest.
Mrs Yesufu who was responding to a cautious tweet by a follower, Salman Audi, said she had already sewn her hijab, preparatory to going to jail if her involvement with the #EndSARS protest came down to that.
“Me that have sewed my jail hijab since! The revolution needs to start from that prison,” she retorted to a tweet Tuesday night by Audi, who had enquired innocuously, “Aisha I hope they are not sending you to jail? I saw your name on the black list of #EndSARS.”

Yesufu, a veteran activist and co-convener of the Bring-Back-Our-Girls movement, won the hearts of the youthful #EndSARS protesters with her motivational and fearless rebuke to the powers that be, while leading from the frontline.
The hijab-wearing, 46-year-old mother of two became the symbol of the #EndSARS protest when her iconic photograph in hijab, standing legs astride with clenched right fist punched into the air while opposing armed security men, went viral.
The federal government has been accused of embarking on a gradual clampdown on perceived sponsors and promoters of the EndSARS protest that rocked almost the entire nation, despite ongoing efforts at reconciling issues that led to the protest, with the setting up of investigative panels by the various states.
Apart from reported arrests and seizure of passport of one of the female members, a lawyer, several others have had their bank accounts frozen, on the order of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
