Gunmen kidnap Oba’s family, demand N100 million

Gunmen have abducted the wife, children and driver of the traditional ruler of Odigbo town, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Rufus Akinrinmade.
It was gathered that the victims were kidnapped on Ikare-Owo Expressway in Oba Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.
The traditional ruler, who confirmed the incident to THE PUNCH, said the abductors had contacted the family and had demanded a sum of N100m as ransom.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of Ondo State Police Command, DSP Olorunfemi Joseph, told RELIABLESOURCENG.COM on phone that the police was on the trail of the abductors. “We are working on it. We’ve commenced investigation into the abduction. Our men are trailing the suspects with a view to apprehending them,” Joseph said.
The police PRO also told us that the state Police command had reached out to the Oba. “The deputy commissioner of police, operations, has been in touch with the Oba and reassured him of police commitment to rescue the abducted family members,” he said.
