Govt extends lockdown by 28 days; flights, interstate movement resume, schools also

The Federal Government on Monday extended the second phase of the eased lockdown for another four weeks.
Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, during the daily briefing said that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of the phased lockdown for four weeks.
The government announced reopening of schools for exiting students in secondary schools across the country.
The task force said that critical and revision classes for JSS-3 and SS-3 students would resume to prepare them for their exiting examinations.
After accessing the extent of COVID-19 spread in Nigeria, the federal government also lifted the ban on interstate movement and local flights.
The PTF, led by its chairman, had met with the president earlier in the day at the State House, Abuja, where they briefed him on the state of the nation with regard to efforts to combat the coronavirus infection in the country.
