About 12 directors and top staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been reportedly suspended with immediate effect on the order of the President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Also affected was the Commission Secretary, Olanipekun Olukoyede.

The notice of suspension was communicated to the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mohammed Umar, on Tuesday night by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, though it was gathered that the order had come from the Presidency Friday, July 10.

The action was said to be in connection with the ongoing investigation of the suspended Acting Chairman of the agency, Mr. Ibrahim Magu and also to allow the investigative panel carry out its assignment thoroughly

However, it has been learnt that some of those affected are claiming that they were not directly involved in Magu’s administration.
